Correspondence from Eastern Region The District Chief Executive (DCE) of Atiwa East in the Eastern Region, Owusu Nti Ernest, has categorically denied allegations linking him to illegal mining activities in the district, describing them as false and baseless.

In an interaction with the media, Owusu Nti stated that the accusations are fabrications by illegal miners who feel threatened by his long-standing advocacy for responsible mining practices in the area. "I have been fighting against illegal mining even before my appointment as DCE.

Now that I'm in a position of authority, they fear I will clamp down on their operations, which is why they are attempting to tarnish my reputation," he said.

Owusu Nti expressed deep concern over the ongoing exploitation of vulnerable farmers, whose lands are often taken without compensation by illegal miners.
