The government has approved an electricity bill exemption for selected strategic institutions, following a Cabinet decision chaired by President John Dramani Mahama.

Minister for Energy and Green Transition, John Abdulai Jinapor, announced the measure, explaining that it is designed to ensure the uninterrupted operation of critical services in the security, health, and education sectors.

The policy also aims to improve energy consumption accountability and reinforce the operational resilience of key government institutions.

Under the directive, the Ministry of Finance will cover the electricity costs of the selected institutions through their approved budget allocations.
