The Presiding Bishop of the Methodist Church of Ghana, Very Reverend Professor Johnson Kwabena Asamoah-Gyadu, has called for a bi-partisan approach to addressing the growing menace of illegal mining, popularly known as galamsey.

Professor Asamoah-Gyadu believes that partisan politics is undermining the effectiveness of efforts to curb illegal mining.

Speaking to journalists after touring some galamsey sites in the Western Region, he urged political leaders to collaborate beyond party lines to find lasting solutions. "Sometimes, they give the impression that if you give us the mandate, we are going to help you to do it decently.

But they have never been able to come up with any solution.
