Some members of the Ablekuma North Municipal Assembly, led by Presiding Member Ibrahim Sulley, have filed a writ in court seeking to restrain Kalamu Adamu Musah from presenting himself as the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) of the assembly.

According to the Assembly Members, Musah, who was nominated by the President and serves as the National Democratic Congress (NDC) Constituency Organizer for Ablekuma North, has not been formally confirmed as MCE, having failed to secure the required votes during a confirmation exercise held on May 13, 2025.

In the vote, conducted at the Assembly's conference hall and supervised by the Electoral Commission, Musah received 10 votes out of 21, falling short of the two-thirds majority required by Article 243 of the 1992 Constitution and Section 20(1) of the Local Governance Act for confirmation as MCE.

Following the announcement of the results, the Presiding Member adjourned the meeting indefinitely after a motion was moved and seconded.
