The ruling (NPP) has announced that it will hold a rerun of the parliamentary primary for the Walewale Constituency in the North East Region on Sunday, September 8, 2024.
In a statement issued on Monday, September 2, 2024, the party indicated that persons interested in contesting in the primary can submit their nominations from Tuesday, September 3, 2024, to Thursday, September 5, 2024.
The party also indicated that nomination forms for the primaries cost GH¢3,000 and should be paid via banker's draft.
It added that all the parliamentary candidate aspirants are also to pay GH¢35,000 as filing fees, which is also to be paid via banker's draft. "Women, youth, and persons with disabilities (PWDs) will receive a 50% rebate on the filing fees.
This means they must pay a non-refundable filing fee of seventeen thousand and five hundred Ghana cedis (GH¢17,500.00).
To ensure clarity, we define a youth as an individual between the ages of 18 and 40," the statement said.
The party also announced the Elections Committee to oversee the rerun of the primary, made up of the following people: 1.
Alhaji Haruna Mohammed, Chairman 2.
Alhaji Nurudeen Fuseini, Vice Chairman 3.

Mahamudu Bawumia, by just seven votes.
Tensions then escalated later when a court injunction was placed on Tia Kabiru, barring him from presenting himself as the elected parliamentary candidate for the NPP in Walewale.
But GhanaWeb has learned that a court has ruled for the elections that were fraught with chaos to be re-run.
The general elections of 2024, scheduled for December 7, are exactly 96 days away, with barely a week for parliamentary and presidential aspirants to file their nominations for the December 7 election, in line with the Electoral Commission's timelines.
