Former Attorney-General and Minister for Justice, Godfred Dame, has mounted a spirited defence of his record in office, touting his successes and pointing to what he describes as a fiercely independent judiciary under his tenure.

This comes after recent public commentary by prominent legal practitioner, Thaddeus Sory, which Dame described as part of a sustained campaign of personal attacks and misinformation against him.

In a strongly worded Facebook post on Friday, May 23, Dame described the allegations as false and politically motivated, accusing Sory of harboring an "obsession" with him.

He further criticised Sory's use of "abusive and offensive language," saying it was unbecoming of a lawyer of his standing at the Bar.
