The (NPP) has condemned the ruling (NDC) government, for what it termed as a deliberate abuse of power to silence dissenting voices and undermining democratic principles in Ghana after recent raids.

In a press statement signed by NPP General Secretary Justin Kodua Frimpong, the party warned that such actions threaten transparency, justice, and equality before the law. "The (NPP) condemns in the strongest terms the growing pattern of politically motivated intimidation and harassment of its members by the NDC government through the misuse of state security institutions.

These actions represent a direct assault on Ghana's democracy and the rule of law and must cease forthwith," the statement said in part.

The NPP made reference to the arrest of Alfred Ababio Kumi, popularly known as "Adenta Kumi," who was reportedly taken from his residence on May 23, 2025, by heavily armed men believed to be operatives of the National Intelligence Bureau (NIB) to corroborate their point. "Rambo-Style Arrest of Adenta Kumi, at approximately 7:00 AM today, May 23, 2025, Mr Alfred Ababio Kumi, a member of the NPP widely known as "Adenta Kumi," was forcibly arrested at his residence by heavily armed men believed to be operatives of the National Intelligence Bureau (NIB).
