The High Court in Accra, which issued an arrest warrant for the Director of Passports, Kwasi Asante, over the issuance of multiple passports to a suspect who was being prosecuted, has withdrawn the warrant.

This is according to a statement issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Thursday, May 22, 2025.

The ministry stated that Kwasi Asante has been cleared of any wrongdoing in relation to the matter.

It was earlier reported by GhanaWeb and other media platforms that the individual who is accused of acquiring multiple passports, one Dominic Williams, acquired his last passport way before Asante was appointed as the Director of Passports. "The Ministry of Foreign Affairs wishes to inform the general public that the High Court has formally withdrawn the arrest warrant previously issued against the Director of Passports in relation to the alleged issuance of multiple passports to an individual identified as Mr Dominic Williams. "The Ministry wishes to confirm that the matter has been fully resolved and that the Director of Passports has been cleared of any wrongdoing.
