The Ghana Police Service has indicated that it has arrested the key suspect in the gruesome murder of a senior lecturer, Professor Amedeke, at the University of Education, Winneba (UEW), whose body was found secretly buried behind his own home.

According to the police statement released on Thursday, May 22, 2025, the suspect, Joshua Karry Arthur, was apprehended on the same day, May 22, 2025, at the deceased's residence in Essuokyir, Winneba.

It added that Investigators made a major breakthrough in the case when authorities discovered several personal belongings of the victim in Arthur's possession at the time of his arrest.

The statement also explained that the investigation was launched after a colleague of the lecturer raised concerns over his unexplained absence, prompting the police to act immediately. "The deceased lecturer had been reported missing on 21st May, 2025, by his colleagues, who had indicated to Police that all efforts to reach him had yielded no response.
