A second attempt to confirm Rudolph Collingwoode-Williams as Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for Ayawaso Central ended in chaos, after a group of aggrieved National Democratic Congress (NDC) supporters stormed the venue and disrupted proceedings.
The disturbance, which took place in Kotobabi, saw canopies, chairs, and the voting booth being dismantled by the protesters, forcing officials to halt the confirmation process.
Collingwoode-Williams had earlier failed to secure approval during the first round of voting on April 30, 2025, managing to gain only six out of 17 votes cast by assembly members-well below the required threshold for confirmation.
Ahead of the rescheduled vote, tensions flared as supporters loyal to the NDC's Ayawaso Central Constituency Chairman, Harry Otu, demanded his appointment as MCE instead.
