The Senior Staff Association-Universities of Ghana (SSA-UoG), together with its sister unions- the Federation of Universities Senior Staff Association of Ghana (FUSSAG), and the Technical Universities Administrators Association of Ghana (TUAAG)-has announced the suspension of its ongoing strike action, effective Friday, May 23, 2025.
The decision comes after the Government of Ghana responded positively to the unions' long-standing demands.
In a statement issued on Thursday, May 22, and signed by SSA-UoG National Chairman, George Ansong, the union confirmed that the Ministry of Finance had finally released a formal letter authorising the implementation of their negotiated conditions of service, effective November 1, 2024.
Additionally, the Ghana Tertiary Education Commission (GTEC) has also communicated to all public universities, authorising them to begin immediate payment of the agreed benefits. "In light of the government's goodwill and swift response, we are calling on all our members across the country to resume work on Friday, 23 May 2025," the statement read.
