A Tamale High Court has ruled that the Walewale parliamentary primaries of the (NPP) be re-run.

According to reports, the full judgment will be read on September 12, 2024, as said by the judge on the case, on Monday, September 2.

The Walewale constituency was a place of tensions in late January 2024 after the incumbent Member of Parliament, Lariba Zuweira Abudu, was narrowly defeated by Tia Kabiru, a special adviser to , by just seven votes.

Tensions then escalated later when a court injunction was placed on Tia Kabiru, barring him from presenting himself as the elected parliamentary candidate for the NPP in Walewale.

But is learning that a court has just ruled for the elections that was fraught with chaos to be re-run.

The general elections of 2024, scheduled for December 7, are exactly 96 days away, with barely a week for parliamentary and presidential aspirants to file their nominations for the December 7 election, in line with the Electoral Commission's timelines.
