The Minister for the Interior, Muntaka Mohammed-Mubarak, has reiterated the government's determination to rid major cities of beggars, street dwellers, and prostitutes as part of a broader effort to restore order in urban areas.

During a working visit to the Northern Region on Thursday, May 22, the minister announced that a nationwide operation will soon commence in five key cities, including Tamale.

The initiative will be carried out in collaboration with the country's security services.

Speaking at the commissioning of a new four-storey, 24-unit apartment complex built by the State Housing Company for the Ghana Immigration Service in Tamale, Muntaka emphasized that the government is serious about cleaning up the streets.
