A second attempt to block the process leading to the potential removal of suspended Chief Justice Gertrude Torkonoo has been dismissed by the Supreme Court in a 4-1 majority ruling.

The suit, filed by private citizen Theodore Kofi Atta-Quartey, sought to stop the committee of inquiry established under Article 146 of the Constitution from proceeding with its mandate.

He also asked the Court to place an injunction on President John Mahama's suspension of the Chief Justice, arguing that the process should be paused until the court determines the substantive issues.

The apex court, however, found the application to be without merit and dismissed it on Wednesday, May 21.
