A confrontation broke out between police officers and a trader at Circle, Accra, on Wednesday, May 21, after the trader reportedly attempted to resist eviction during the Accra Metropolitan Assembly's (AMA) ongoing decongestion exercise.

The incident occurred as AMA's taskforce, supported by police personnel, continued operations to clear unauthorized structures, street vendors, and other obstructions in the bustling Neoplan Station area-a known hotspot for congestion and illegal trading.

Eyewitnesses say tensions escalated when the trader refused to vacate a spot identified as unauthorized, leading to a scuffle with security personnel.

The situation was quickly brought under control, but it underscores the challenges facing authorities in their efforts to restore order in the capital.
