The Greater Accra Regional Minister, Linda Ocloo, has announced plans to re-evacuate scrap dealers who have once again settled at the old Agbogbloshie onion market site, despite previous clearance.

In July 2021, the Greater Accra Regional Coordinating Council (GARCC), with the support of armed police, conducted a large-scale demolition exercise at the Agbogbloshie scrapyard.

The operation cleared structures that had housed roughly 10,000 scrap dealers and onion traders, aiming to reclaim the land and restore order to the area.

However, four years later, parts of the reclaimed land are facing renewed threats as some scrap metal dealers have returned and begun converting sections into unauthorized dumping grounds.
