The 10th anniversary celebration of Lashibi based Ahotor fm radio station was launched on Thursday with a vision of establishing a television station under its Five-year strategic plan.The launch of the anniversary celebration, which was held in Sakumono under the theme, "10 Years of Ahotor: Elevating Voices, Shaping Tomorrow", featured the unveiling of the anniversary logo.The founder Samuel Ofosu Ampofo, the vision with which the anniversary was launched would enable the radio station to continue to make a positive impact in society and contribute to the country's democratic growth.Dr Ofosu Ampofo said since its inception in 2015, the radio station had remained committed to a clear mission of operating an effective, sustainable, and community radio that championed within its broadcasting footprint.He stated that the radio station over the past decade, had expanded its reach to cover five regions, namely, the Eastern, Volta, Greater Accra, Central, and part of the Ashanti Region, adding that, "Ahotor FM has become a platform where voices are lifted, ideas are exchanged, and communities are empowered."The former Director General of the National Communications Authority (NCA),Paa Rock Van Percy commended the radio station for its contribution to societal development, democracy and youth empowerment through its corporate social responsibility initiatives and academic programmes. The NCA former Director General urged the Ahotor fm to adapt to new technologies, including new media, to actively engage their audiences, as the media landscape kept evolving.Mr Percy advised the radio station to be innovative, stick to the facts to avoid misinformation and disinformation, and be compliant with broadcasting regulatory requirements of the NCA by paying attention to its authorisation and deadlines.The General Manager of Ahotor 93.3 fm, Mr Ahuma Bosco Ocansey, in a welcome address, said that some of the activities outlined for the anniversary celebration were listener appreciation promotions, community outreach programmes, a grand anniversary concert, community soccer gala, and a thanksgiving service.The Volta Region representative of the Council of State who chaired the launch, Mr Gabriel Adovoe Kwabla Tanko Kwamigah Atokple called for support for radio stations like Ahotor fm from business organisations through advertisement placements and partnerships with these radio stations.There were solidarity messages from the Managing Editor of the Insight newspaper, Mr Kwesi Pratt Jnr, a representative of the Regional Maritime University, and traditional leaders who graced the event.BY BENJAMIN ARCTON-TETTEY
