The Member of Parliament (MP) for Sagnarigu Constituency in the North­ern Region, Mr Atta Issah, has cut sod for the construction of GH¢280,000 ultra-modern maternity ward and a medical laboratory for the Sagnarigu community.The project, an initiative of the MP and funded by him, is expected to be completed within six months.Speaking during the sod cutting ceremony, the MP indicated that the project was in response to a request made by the traditional authorities of the Sagnarigu to provide the area with a maternity ward and medi­cal laboratory.He explained that the request was something that torched his heart during his campaign, as Sagnarigu Constituency Parlia­mentary Candidate for NDC in the 2024 general election."Today I am the MP for the constituency and I stand to fulfill the promise made to you the chiefs and the people by cutting the sod for the health facility," he stated.He noted that the facility, when completed, would not only serve inhabitants of Sagnarigu but the adjoining communities would also benefit from it.Mr Issah indicated that the construction of the facility formed part of his contribution to improve and expand access to quality health care delivery in the municipality.The MP also mentioned that delivery of medical care in the constituency was dear to his heart, hence the construction of the facility.The Sagnarigu Municipal Sub Health Officer, Mrs Helena Ama Abakah, expressed her gratitude to the MP for responding to the request of the traditional authori­ties on time.She said the construction of the facility was timely and would bring some relief to staff as the wards in most of the facilities were always crowded.Mrs Abakah, however, assured the MP of effective monitoring in order to ensure that the project was executed according to the required specification.The Sagnarigu Yinkpa Dana Chief, Mahama Salifu, applauded the MP for fulfilling his promise he made to the constituents.He also assured him that they would monitor the progress of the project from stage by stage till it get to its completion. FROM YAHAYA NUHU NADAA, SAGNARIGU
