The Ghana Hydrological Authority has raised serious concerns over increasing encroachment on water bodies, describing the trend as a major cause of recent flooding in parts of the country.

In an interview on Channel One Newsroom on Monday, May 19, Head of Drains at the Authority, Ing Richard Amekor, noted that some individuals have illegally occupied sections of the Mamahuma Drain, while others are actively filling in the Adenta Dam near the Fulani enclave.

He describes this situation as alarming and potentially disastrous.

According to him, a recent inspection by the authority in the area revealed that the embankment of the Fulani dam has already been severely compromised.
