A petition has been submitted to President John Dramani Mahama, urging the dissolution of a five-member committee tasked with investigating petitions for the removal of Chief Justice, Gertrude Araba Esaaba Sackey Torkornoo.

The petitioner, Alfred Ababio Kumi, argues that the integrity of the committee has been compromised due to alleged conflicts of interest.

In a letter addressed to the President following the committee's first sitting on May 15, 2025, Kumi raised serious concerns regarding the conduct of two committee members, Justices Gabriel Pwamang and Samuel Adibu-Asiedu.

He alleged that the two justices, along with Supreme Court Justice, Yonni Kulendi, met privately at Santoku Restaurant in Accra's Airport Residential Area with Thaddeus Sory, counsel for one of the petitioners. "The meeting between Justices Pwamang, Kulendi and Asiedu with Thaddeus Sory clearly has destroyed the integrity of the process and reduces public confidence in the process so far," Kumi stated in his petition.
