The Court of Appeal has dismissed an application by CEO of defunct Menzgold Ghana Limited, Nana Appiah Mensah seeking to overturn a ruling of the High Court instructing him to open his defence.
The High Court in 2024 ordered Nana Appiah Mensah to open his defence in the criminal case he is facing at the High for counts including engaging in the sale of gold without license l, fraudulent breach of trust, defrauding by false pretense and money laundering.
His lawyers however applied to the Court of Appeal seeking to overturn the High court decision.
On Monday, prosecution however urged the court to dismiss the application as it is an attempt to overreach the powers of the court and there were no exceptional circumstances raised.
