The Food and Drugs Authority (FDA) has issued a strong public warning against two alcoholic products, Kings Orange Flavoured Liqueur and Jupiter 1990, declaring them unsafe for consumption.
In a statement released on Sunday, 18th May, the FDA revealed that both drinks are unregistered and have tested positive for marijuana (cannabis) extracts.
They are suspected to be illegally manufactured by FAMUDE Catering Services, located in the Ashanti Region. "Kings Orange Flavoured Liqueur was originally registered with the FDA in 2022.
However, in July 2023, routine checks and laboratory tests found traces of marijuana in the drink," the statement said.
