The Director of Passports, Kwasi Asante, has reacted to reports of a bench warrant issued by the Accra High Court for his arrest over the issuance of more than eight passports to an accused person who was being prosecuted.

In a public notice copied to GhanaWeb, Asante clarified that the incident occurred long before he took office as Director of Passports.

He stated that he was not involved in the issuance of the said passports and urged the public to disregard any insinuations of wrongdoing on his part. "I wish to clarify that the recent reports regarding a matter at the Passport Office are inaccurate.

The incident in question occurred before I assumed office at the Passport Office. "I kindly request that the public disregard the misinformation and note that I was not involved in the matter, as it predates my tenure.
