The Convener of the Coalition for Street-Connected Children Organisation, Dr.
Ernesina Tetteh, has called for a coordinated, multi-agency approach to addressing the growing challenge of foreign children involved in street begging in Ghana.
Her remarks come in response to the swoop by the Ghana Immigration Service (GIS), which led to the arrest of 2,241 undocumented foreign nationals from various locations across Accra on Friday, May 16.
The arrested group included a significant number of minors, 577 male children and 755 female children, raising concerns about the protection and welfare of the children.
