Officers of the Ghana Immigration Service (GIS) have rounded up over 1000 street children and their guardians in a major operation in Accra.
The exercise began in the early hours of Friday, May 16, at Kaneshie, Abossey Okai, and the Kwame Nkrumah Circle.
The street beggars have become a national security threat, drawing the attention of Immigration authorities.
Several women and children, suspected to be foreign nationals, were picked up and transported in an immigration vehicle to an assembly point.
