The Minority in Parliament is calling for a full-scale investigation into the conduct of the Acting CEO of the Ghana Gold Board, Sammy Gyamfi, over what they describe as a questionable foreign currency transaction.

In formal petitions submitted to the Commission on Human Rights and Administrative Justice (CHRAJ), the Criminal Investigations Department (CID), and the Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP), the opposition MPs are demanding an independent probe into Sammy Gyamfi's alleged involvement in unauthorized foreign exchange dealings and the circulation of foreign currency, which they claim may violate the Foreign Exchange Act and the Currency Act.

The move comes just a day after President John Dramani Mahama publicly declared that he would not pursue any disciplinary action against Sammy Gyamfi, having accepted his apology for the incident.

The President described the matter as resolved, after he issued a strong caution to the CEO.
