A civil society group, the Centre for Citizenship, Constitutional and Electoral Systems has filed a suit at the Supreme Court challenging the removal process of the suspended Chief Justice, Gertrude Torkonoo.

Chief Justice, Torkornoo was suspended by President John Dramani Mahama on Tuesday, April 22, following the establishment of a prima facie case against her.

The action was based on petitions filed by private citizen, Daniel Ofori, senior police officer, Ayamga Akolgo, and the civic advocacy group, Shining Stars of Ghana.

However the group, in its writ is asking the Supreme Court to declare that the President's response or action regarding three petitions to remove the Chief Justice is not lawful under the Constitution.
