A tense standoff unfolded at the Nsawam-Adoagyiri Municipal Assembly as Member of Parliament (MP) Frank Annoh-Dompreh faced opposition from National Democratic Congress (NDC) youth during the confirmation process of the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) nominee.
According to myjoyonline.com report, the confrontation stemmed from Annoh-Dompreh's attempt to oversee the voting process as a polling agent, a move that was fiercely resisted by regional NDC executives led by one Dr Mark Oliver Kevor.
Reports ahead of the election suggested that Annoh-Dompreh was determined to block the confirmation of Philibert Fumey Selorm, the nominee who had previously contested against him in the 2024 parliamentary elections, a legal battle that eventually ended in court.
The report added that, as tensions rose inside the assembly hall, clashes erupted between supporters of the MP and those backing the nominee.
