The Inspector General of Police (IGP), COP Christian Tetteh Yohuno, has explained why he defied security intelligence warnings advising him against entering Bawku during the recent surge in violence, stating that he could not abandon his officers who were under attack.
According to graphic.com.gh, the IGP made this revelation to the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II on May 10, 2025, during ongoing efforts to mediate peace at Bawku.
He recounted that given the severity of the situation, he felt compelled to visit the conflict zone despite the risks involved. "Recently, I visited Bawku when our men were seriously attacked.
There was a threat of small, serious attacks on their lives.
