Minority Leader and Member of Parliament for Effutu, Alexander Kwamena Afenyo-Markin, has urged the Mahama-led administration to urgently address the ongoing power crisis rather than focusing on dismissing chief executive officers of government institutions.
In his national address on May 7, 2025, President John Dramani Mahama provided an account of his first 120 days in office, reaffirming his commitment to fulfilling the promises made under his 120-day social contract with Ghanaians.
He emphasised his administration's dedication to implementing tangible reforms with urgency and integrity, outlining a series of bold actions aimed at "resetting" Ghana and fostering a more just, inclusive, and accountable society.
However, responding to the address, Afenyo-Markin, speaking on behalf of the New Patriotic Party at a press conference on May 8, 2025, called on Mahama to prioritise resolving the power crisis-a pledge he made to Ghanaians-rather than dismissing chief executives.
