The Ghana Private Road Transport Union (GPRTU) has issued a stern warning to DecoBuild, operators of the Madina Lorry Park, to immediately cease the collection of unauthorised tolls from commercial drivers.
According to the union, DecoBuild has been operating a "pay-as-you-go" toll system in recent months, which has placed an undue financial burden on drivers.
Unlike the standard one-time daily toll, drivers are now forced to pay multiple times in a single day.
Speaking at a press conference in Accra, Industrial Relations Officer for GPRTU, Abass Imoro, emphasised that the union is giving the La Nkwantanang-Madina Municipal Assembly a one-week ultimatum to intervene and enforce proper toll regulations at the station.
