The Ga Traditional Council's annual ban on drumming and noise making, is set to begin on Monday, May 12, and end on Thursday, June 12, 2025, as part of the traditional rites ahead of the Homowo Festival.
The announcement, signed by His Royal Majesty, King Tackie Teiko Tsuru II, Ga Mantse and President of the Ga Traditional Council, emphasised the spiritual significance of the ban, which marks a period of solemnity, reflection, and preparation for the Homowo Festival.
The council further clarified that the ban applies throughout the Ga State, but noted that due to variations in Homowo celebration dates across different Ga Dangme communities, areas such as Osu, La, Teshie, Nungua, Tema, Kpone, Prampram, and Ningo will announce separate bans after June 12, each with specific dates.
Residents in those areas are advised to monitor local announcements and comply accordingly.
