The Greater Accra Regional Minister and Mrs Linda Obenewaa Akweley Ocloo has reaffirmed government's commitment to improving road infrastructure across Accra.This, followed an appeal made to her by an Assembly member at the Ga West Municipal Assembly, Mr Love Alister about poor roads infrastructure in the municipality."Fixing our roads and addressing infrastructure concerns in Accra remain top priorities for this administration," she noted.The minister reiterated this at the confirmation of Presidential Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) nominee for Okaikwei North, Mr John Desmond Sowah Nai held in Accra on Wednesday.He was confirmed and sworn into office by Ms Ocloo after all 25 assembly members and government appointees representing 100 per cent unanimously voted yes to confirm him in the election conducted by the Electoral Commission (EC), surpassing the two-thirds majority required under Section 20 of the Local Governance Act, 2016 (Act 936).Also, the nominated MCEs for Ga North and Okaikwei North Municipal Assembly, Mr Akwetey Agbo and Mr Christian Tetteh Badger respectively were both confirmed and sworn after securing 100 per cent votes in their various assemblies.In Ga North Municipal Assembly, 21 assembly members voted and Mr Agbo secured all votes casted while Mr Badger also won all 17 voted casted at the Okaikwei North Municipal Assembly which confirmed them.Describing the day as a fruitful day, Ms Ocloo expressed gratitude to the assembly members for confirming the newly nominated MCEs and ensuring a smooth and peaceful electoral process."All the assemblies we went to confirm their nominees to day, all gave us 100 per cent, none voted no, this means that, they have confident and assurance in the presidential nominee," she noted.She also urged assembly members of other municipal assemblies to emulate the free and fair elections exhibited by the confirmed assemblies so far to ensure a smooth confirmation process to enhance development at the local level.She also called on the newly confirmed MMDCEs to commit fully to the President's development vision, adding that, "I expect all MMDCEs to work hard, align with President Mahama's agenda, and serve their communities with integrity and dedication."The Minister urged all assembly members to work closely with the confirmed executives:"Let us all support our new MMDCEs to deliver the progress our people expect and deserve."Meanwhile, the newly confirmed MCEs expressed their deep appreciation to President John Dramani Mahama for their nominations, and to assembly members for the overwhelming support."I am deeply grateful for the confidence the assembly has shown in me.
