Former General Secretary of the People's National Convention (PNC), Atik Mohammed, has laid the blame for the New Patriotic Party's (NPP) defeat in the 2024 general elections squarely at the feet of former President .
In a Facebook post on Thursday, May 8, Atik alleged that the former president's actions and decisions significantly contributed to the party's electoral misfortunes.
Referencing a recent memo by Kwabena Adu-Boahene, Atik suggested that the former president may have prioritised national stability over party loyalty by indirectly empowering the opposition. "If Kwabena Adu-Boahene's memo is any indication, it implies Nana Addo was superintending over the empowerment of the opposition ostensibly to ensure stability," he wrote.
He also criticised the former president for allegedly shifting blame onto party candidates, particularly through religious insinuations. "And yet, [he] turns around to accuse candidates of losing because of religion," Atik lamented, implying that such commentary was not only divisive but hypocritical, given the president's own influence over the election's outcome.
