The former Minister of Health, Bernard Okoe-Boye, has expressed confidence and optimism that the opposition (NPP) can regain its appeal and secure victory in the 2028 presidential elections.
He, however, emphasised that this can only be achieved if the party is willing to learn a few lessons from their opponents, the ruling (NDC), and is prepared to acknowledge its mistakes, admit to errors made during its time in governance, and subsequently reform its behavior.
Speaking on Peace FM on Thursday, May 8, 2025, Okoe-Boye referenced the NDC's experience in 2016, noting how, after suffering a major defeat, many Ghanaians had written the party off, with some even vowing it would never return to power.
However, he acknowledged that the NDC managed to reorganise, rebuild its image, and ultimately regain power, a lesson he believes the NPP should learn from. "The way they (NDC) changed their behavior, it's the same way if NPP we admit and accept our mistakes, change our behavior and adapt like Mahama did, Ghanaians will vote us back into power," he stated.
