President John Dramani Mahama has announced the formation of a board of inquiry to investigate alleged irregularities in the recent Ghana Armed Forces recruitment exercises, signaling a renewed commitment to sanitising the country's security sector.
Speaking from the Jubilee House during a 120-day update on his Social Contract with Ghanaians, the former president addressed growing concerns about political infiltration in security agencies, promising a robust approach to restoring professionalism and trust. "We promised to commence investigative processes to purge our security services of militia and vigilante elements.
This board will examine recent recruitment practices, uncover any discrepancies, and recommend corrective actions," he said.
The board is expected to look closely into the integrity of recruitment protocols, especially following widespread speculation that some enlistments may have been influenced by partisan connections rather than merit.
