President of the NGOs in Health, Bright Amissah Nyarko, has expressed concern over what he describes as a widespread "I don't care" attitude among healthcare workers in Ghana.
Speaking at Media General's Health Forum on Tuesday, May 7, 2025, Mr.
Amissah Nyarko said the poor attitude of some health personnel is contributing to the deterioration of patient care across the country. "The 'I don't care' attitude in our health facilities is too much," he stated during the event, which was themed: "State and Future of Health Facilities: Reimagining Healthcare in Ghana." He also called for increased investment in Community-based Health Planning and Services (CHPS) Compounds and district hospitals.
According to him, these primary health facilities are overstretched and under-resourced. "A lot of focus and resources should be invested in our CHIP Compounds and district hospitals.
