A group of concerned members of the (NDC) in the La Dade Kotopon Constituency is calling for the immediate dismissal of four constituency party executives over what they describe as blatant anti-party conduct during the recent confirmation process for the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) of the La Dade Kotopon Municipal Assembly.
In a statement issued on May 5, 2025, and signed by Philip Sowah Adjetey, Convener for the group, the members allege that four key party executives, who also serve as assembly members, deliberately voted against the presidential nominee for the MCE role-undermining both the party's interests and the authority of President John Dramani Mahama.
The individuals named include: Christopher Oko Gogo - Constituency Vice Chairman and Assembly Member for Adiembra Helena Fofo Armah - Deputy Constituency Women's Organizer and Assembly Member for Tse Addo Mantiase Emmanuel Kissei - Deputy Constituency Treasurer and Assembly Member for Kowe Abese Abafum Bashiru Mahama - Ward Coordinator for Cantonment Ward According to the group, Bashiru Mahama is reported to have made a statement weeks before the vote, claiming that the assembly members intended to "teach President Mahama a lesson" by rejecting his nominee. "These actions are a clear betrayal of the party and a direct affront to the leadership and vision of His Excellency John Dramani Mahama," the statement reads. "Such anti-party behaviour cannot be tolerated, especially from individuals entrusted with leadership roles." The concerned members are urging regional and national executives of the NDC to take swift disciplinary action by removing the named individuals from their positions.
They argue that their continued presence in party leadership "poses a serious threat to party unity and the electoral prospects" in La Dade Kotopon.
