The government has officially released a comprehensive Code of Conduct to guide the conduct of political appointees, aiming to uphold high standards of professionalism and integrity in public office.

The Code was launched by President Mahama on Monday, May 5, 2025, as part of broader governance reforms to promote transparency and accountability within the executive arm of government.

According to the government, the term "Minister" as used in the Code applies broadly to include Deputy Ministers, Presidential Staffers, Chief Executive Officers and Deputy Chief Executive Officers of state and para-statal institutions, members of the Council of State, and other political appointees.

President Mahama stated that the Code of Conduct articulates his administration's expectations for a government marked by integrity, honesty, impartiality, respect, decency, incorruptibility, competence, and professionalism.
