The Supreme Court has dismissed an application challenging the removal process of Chief Justice Gertrude Torkornoo, ruling in a narrow 3-2 decision that the proceedings should continue.
The petition, filed by Member of Parliament for Old Tafo, Vincent Ekow Assafuah, sought to stop the suspension and investigation of the Chief Justice.
Representing Assafuah in court was lawyer and former Attorney General, Godfred Yeboah Dame.
Acting Chief Justice Paul Baffoe-Bonnie, alongside Justices Yonny Kulendi and Amadu Tanko, ruled against the injunction request, while Justices Henrietta Mensah Bonsu and Ernest Gaewu dissented.
