The Member of Parliament for Akim Swedru, Kennedy Osei Nyarko, has urged President to publicly disclose the names of the individuals who gifted him two vehicles.
According to the NPP legislator, the President's disclosure would promote transparency, trust, and accountability, to ensure that individuals who offer gifts to public officials are not shielded from public scrutiny.
Reacting to the President's directive to his appointees regarding the declaration of gifts exceeding GH¢20,000.00, Kennedy Osei Nyarko stated on Facebook that additional measures should be put in place to ensure the names of individuals who offer such gifts are made public. "I don't think it's enough for the President to ask appointees to declare any gifts above the value of GH¢20,000.00. "His directives should include the publication of the names of those who presented the gifts.
I will urge the President to demonstrate his commitment to his directives by publishing the names of those who presented to him the two (2) vehicles," he said on Tuesday, May 6, 2025.
