George Justice Arthur, has expressed concern over the absence of factories and industries in the city, describing it as one of the major challenges facing the ancient capital.

Arthur compared Cape Coast to other major cities like Accra, Tema, and Kumasi, which are home to several manufacturing companies producing goods such as biscuits, cement, and beverages.
