Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in Bortianor Ngleshie Amanfro, Bright Ofori Ampofo, has cautioned President John Dramani Mahama against any thoughts of extending his political ambitions beyond constitutional limits.
Speaking in an interview on the Channel One Newsroom on Monday May 5, he said any attempt by Mahama to push for a third presidential term would be fiercely rejected by Ghanaians. "If for any reason President Mahama in his wildest dream is thinking that he is making an arrangement to go for a third term, he should just wake up from the dream because this will never happen in this country," he declared.
He emphasised that Ghana's democratic framework does not support any such ambitions, citing past presidents who respected the two-term limit. "Ghanaians are civilised people.
If President Kufuor, even President Rawlings when his two terms ended, he didn't even make any attempt to go for a third term," he said.
