Minority Leader Alexander Afenyo-Markin has condemned what he describes as an unprovoked assault by a police officer during the "Save the Judiciary" demonstration on Monday, May 5, 2025.
The incident occurred at the entrance of Parliament House in Accra, where Afenyo-Markin was leading a delegation to present a petition advocating for judicial independence.
According to Afenyo-Markin, as he approached the barricade at Parliament House, a uniformed police officer, identified as Constable Forson, struck him on the left side of his chest with significant force.
The impact left him dazed and short of breath, prompting immediate assistance from parliamentary security personnel and fellow demonstrators.
