Government Spokesperson, Felix Kwakye Ofosu, has defended President John Dramani Mahama's sanctions handed to appointees who failed to meet the March 31 deadline for declaring their assets, describing it as a bold demonstration of leadership and accountability.
Speaking on Citi Eyewitness News on Monday, May 5, Mr.
Kwakye Ofosu said the president's move signals a clear intent to uphold integrity and discipline within the public sector. "It goes to show that this is a President that is committed to enforcing compliance with the asset declaration regime. "It also shows that this is a President who is committed to making sure that his appointees conduct themselves in accordance with specific laid-down regulations," he stated.
President Mahama announced that all defaulting appointees will forfeit three months of their salaries, which will be donated to the Ghana Medical Trust Fund, popularly known as the MahamaCares Fund.
