The Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) has successfully replaced the damaged earthing transformer at its Achimota Bulk Supply Point Station 'H', following a fire outbreak in the early hours of Sunday, May 4.
Damaged transformer The fire, which was preceded by a loud explosion, led to a major power outage affecting several communities, including Kanda, parts of Cantonments, Kwabenya, Haatso, Legon, and Madina.
Despite the extent of the damage, ECG engineers managed to restore electricity to all affected areas in less than 24 hours.
The rapid response included isolating the station, deploying emergency crews, and rerouting power from adjacent supply points.
