The New Patriotic Party (NPP) is considering suspending its ongoing nationwide "Thank You Tour" to participate fully in the upcoming "Save the Judiciary Demo" scheduled for May 5, 2025.
The demonstration is being organised by a coalition of five political parties in response to President John Dramani Mahama's recent suspension of Chief Justice, Gertrude Araba Esaaba Sackey Torkornoo - a move critics say threatens the independence of the judiciary.
Speaking in an interview with Asaase Radio, the NPP's National Organiser, Henry Nana Boakye, popularly known as Nana B, confirmed that the party is deliberating on halting the tour to join the protest. "The party intends to suspend the tour so that all of us can be part of this important national exercise.
This is bigger than party lines - we are fighting for Ghanaians and the future of our democratic institutions," he noted.
