The New Patriotic Party (NPP) is raising the alarm over what it believes is President John Dramani Mahama's calculated move to destabilise the country's judicial system.

At a press briefing ahead of its planned "Save the Judiciary" protest, the party accused the President of acting outside the law and attempting to drag the courts into partisan politics.

Speaking at the event, NPP National Organiser Henry Nana Boakye described Chief Justice Gertrude Araba Esaaba Torkornoo's suspension as unconstitutional and deeply troubling.

He insisted the President's action violates Article 146 of the Constitution and demanded a swift reversal of what he termed a "procedurally flawed" and "ultra vires" decision.
