President has reaffirmed his commitment to accountability, fiscal discipline, and inclusive governance.
Speaking at the May Day celebration on Thursday, May 1, 2025, he reflected on bold steps his government has taken to stabilise the economy and restore trust in public leadership. "I will be prudent and modest in the handling of our public resources, and I expect all my appointees to do the same", he stated.
President Mahama also explained that fiscal discipline is not just about cutting costs but ensuring public funds are channelled to uplift lives and restore confidence in governance. "True commitment demands bold action that go beyond just immediate relief.
That is why in March I organized the historic National Economic Forum that brought together stakeholders from every sector, labour leaders, employers, civil society, academia and policymakers to engage in honest, forward-looking dialogue on a fiscal policy for our economy going forward. "At this forum we mapped out short term, medium term and long-term transformative policies to rebuild and reposition our economy for sustainable growth", he added.
