President John Dramani Mahama has lauded the resilience and contributions of Ghanaian workers in a statement marking this year's International Workers' Day, vowing to continue implementing policies that promote industrialisation, decent work, and economic stability.
In a message shared on Wednesday, President Mahama described workers as the "engine of our economy", recognising their tireless efforts and critical role in driving national progress.
He echoed this year's May Day theme-"Striving for peace and stability to drive industrialisation, trade, and decent work for social justice"-as a reflection of Ghana's broader development goals. "My government recognises and deeply values the pivotal role of the Ghanaian worker in driving our national development agenda," Mahama stated. "I am committed to creating a supportive environment that allows you to thrive and help Reset Ghana." Mahama outlined a series of interventions rolled out in his administration's first four months to stabilize the economy, boost industrial production, and create jobs in manufacturing and light industries.
He also highlighted efforts to strengthen regional and international trade relationships as part of broader plans to open new markets for Ghanaian goods and services.
